Jal Jeevan Mission provided tap connections to 19 lakh households
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Centre has provided tap connections to 19 lakh households amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to provide functional household tap connections (FHTCs) to every rural household of the country by the year 2024.

Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) was launched by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 73rd Independence Day, which is 15 August 2019, from the ramparts of Red Fort.
The mission is under implementation in partnership with States. The main objective of the mission is to have ‘Har Ghar Jal’, every house in the village is to be provided with a tap connection.
Under the mission, during 2019-20, more than 84 lakh households were provided with tap connections.
Water delivery in every home through tap connections is an aspiration for women. JJM will bring dignity and empowerment to women.
It will bring safety and security to women and girls. It will improve ‘ease of living’ and ensures a better ‘quality of life’.
