Kerala Secures Rs 2,424 cr World Bank Loan to Strengthen Healthcare System

To significantly improve healthcare infrastructure and public health, the Kerala government has approved the Kerala Health System Improvement Programme (KHSIP). The project will be implemented with financial assistance of ₹2,424.28 crore from the World Bank under the Programme for Results (P for R) model.

The state Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, granted approval for this initiative on February 7, 2025, with the intention of enhancing healthcare resilience, preventing diseases, and improving the overall quality of life for the people of Kerala.

Objectives of the Kerala Health System Improvement Programme

The main goal of the KHSIP is to improve living standards and boost life expectancy by enabling individuals to live without diseases while also reducing accidents and untimely deaths.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) states that all initiatives under this project will prioritize the welfare of the underprivileged and work towards creating a robust healthcare system that meets the changing demographic and health challenges in Kerala.
