
Garimella Balakrishna Prasad, a prominent classical singer and former Asthana Vidwan (court musician) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), has unfortunately passed away from a heart attack at his residence in Tirupati. Balakrishna Prasad committed his life to the fields of Carnatic, folk, and classical music. He served as an Asthana Vidwan at TTD from 1978 until 2006, a role that garnered him national recognition. Balakrishna Prasad’s most notable contribution to Indian devotional music lies in his melodic compositions for over 1,000 lyrical works by the 15th-century saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharya. These pieces, initially discovered in lyrical form, were skillfully turned into soulful musical renditions by Balakrishna Prasad, allowing them to resonate with millions of music enthusiasts.
