Maharashtra becomes 1st state launch its own Wildlife Action Plan

During the 17th meeting of the State Board for Wildlife (SBWL), the government of Maharashtra approved its own Wildlife Action Plan (2021-2030), which will be implemented over the next 10 years. Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to release its own Wildlife Action plan (2021-30). The board has also approved the extension of the boundary of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, in the Chandrapur district of the Vidarbha region, by around 79 sq km.

The new plan will be a guiding document to frame an action plan for wildlife conservation over the next 10 years. The Wildlife Action plan (2021-30) recognizes concerns about climate change impacts on wildlife, coastal ecosystems, marine biodiversity, flora, and fauna.
