Achievements of the campaign as of 2022
✅ Liberal and transparent FDI policy: most sectors are now open to FDI under the automatic route. FDI inflows in India increased from US $ 45.15 billion in 2014-2015 to the highest ever of $83.6 billion in 2021-22.
✅ Launch of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme: It was launched in 2020-21 across 14 key manufacturing sectors to give a big boost to Make in India initiative
✅ Semiconductors: Govt launched a USD 10 billion incentive scheme to build a semiconductor, display, design ecosystem in India.
✅ Reforming of laws: by amendments to laws, liberalization of guidelines and regulations, in order to reduce unnecessary compliance burden, bring down cost and enhance the ease of doing business in India.
✅ Labour reforms have brought flexibility in hiring and retrenchment.
✅Launch of National Single Window System (NSWS) in 2021: to improve the ease of doing business by providing a single digital platform to investors for approvals and clearances
✅ Gatishakti programme: to ensure logistical efficiency in business operations through the creation of infrastructure that improves connectivity.
✅ One-District-One-Product (ODOP) initiative: for facilitating promotion and production of the indigenous products from each district of the country and providing a global platform to the artisans and manufacturers of handloom, handicrafts, textiles, etc.
✅ Turnaround in Toy industry: It has historically been import dependent. In 2018-19, Toys worth USD 371 Mn (Rs. 2960 cr.) were imported. The import of toys in FY21-22 have reduced by 70% to USD 110 Mn.
Shortcomings
✅• In pursuit of nation’s development, in many places agricultural growth and development has not received the much-needed attention.
✅• Re-introduction of made-in-india campaign, have significantly satisfied the demands, mainly focusing upon the development of the manufacturing industries by consuming natural resources in large amounts.
✅• Since made-in-India campaign mostly invites other countries to India, they come and set up manufacturing units in India, attracting many Indian. This in turn puts the small-scale industry entrepreneurs at a loss.
✅• Lack of infrastructure: Electricity, road connectivity is poor in many industrial areas which increases the logistics and operational cost for industries.
