Ministry of Rural Development launched ‘Nai Chetna’ Gender Campaign: ‘Nai Chetna’ campaign was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development and involves sensitizing women, especially in rural areas.
Aim: To enable women to acknowledge, prepare, and take support in situations of comprise.

This campaign was launched on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women on 25th November 2022. ’Nai Chetna’, the month-long campaign is envisioned as a ‘Jan Andolan’ (people’s movement). The campaign is launched by the Ministry of Rural Development and involves sensitizing women, especially in rural areas. It seeks to enable women to acknowledge, prepare and take support in situations of compromise. The Union Minister described that the campaign’s focus is women in rural areas. Often, women in rural areas are unaware of the various mechanisms available to raise their concerns.
In his address, the Union Minister highlighted the sensitivity of the issue. He said, “It is sad that a large number of men and women still consider gender-based violence normal. Such a perspective needs to be changed.”
The campaign also aims to raise awareness about the institutional mechanisms available for women to fight gender-based violence.
