Experts and other national research organizations have prepared the National Clinical Management Protocol based on Ayurveda & Yoga for management of Covid-19 as per the Report & Recommendations of the Interdisciplinary Committee
The Ministry has setup an Interdisciplinary Committee for Integration of Ayurveda and Yoga Interventions in the ‘National Clinical Management Protocol: COVID-19, which was chaired by Dr V M Katoch, former Director General ICMR and group of experts.
The protocol contains the details self-care guidelines for preventive health measures to help protect against COVID-19 pandemic.
Clinical studies have established some Ayurveda interventions like Ashwagandha, Laung & Giloy as anti-inflammatory, antiviral & immunity-modulating which help protect against COVID-19.
Apart from general measures such as drinking herb-infused warm water or turmeric milk, steam inhalation, gargling and moderate exercise in the form of several yogic postures, the protocol also recommends a set of medicines to be used for prophylaxis and treatment.
