Natural Vegetation – Geography
Natural vegetation is a biological term that refers to a plant community that has grown naturally without any human aid and has been left undisturbed by humans for a long. Thus, cultivated crops and fruits, orchards form part of vegetation but not natural vegetation.
Himalayan heights are marked with temperate vegetation; the Western Ghats and the Andaman Nicobar Islands have tropical rain forests, the desert and semi desert areas of Rajasthan are known for cactii, a wide variety of bushes and thorny vegetation.
Natural vegetation is a very significant part of a biodiversity. It supports a variety of living forms and it shelters a number of species of flora and fauna.
Natural vegetation is mostly found in areas with favorable climatic conditions. The heights of natural vegetation differ from place to place due to the climatic conditions prevailing in that area.
