Direction: Read the following information carefully and answer the questions based on it.
The table given below shows the partial information about the number of bags manufactured by the companies P, Q, R, S and
T. They manufactured Sports bags and office bags. The type of bags is further categorized into mid-range and Heavy range.
Total number of bags = Sports bags + office bags
Sports bags = Mid-range + Heavy range Office bags = Mid-range + Heavy range
1) If the value of [D] is 9824 which is 576 less than [C], find the total number of bags manufactured by the company Q.
A. 28400
B. 24000
C. 25600
D. 30000
E. None of these
Sol:
Let the total number of bags manufactured by
the company Q= 100a
Number of office bags in company Q = 65% of
100a = 65a
Number of sports bags in company Q = 100a –
65a = 35a
Number of mid-range office bags manufactured
by company Q = 9824 + 576 = 10400
So, number of heavy range office bags
manufactured by company Q = 65a – 10400
Number of heavy range sports bags
manufactured by company Q = 40% of 35a =
14a
Now,
(65a – 10400) + 14a = 9824
Value of a = 20224/79 = 256
So, total number of bags manufactured by
company Q = 256 x 100 = 25600
Hence, the answer is option C
2) For company P, if the value of [A] % is 72%, then the total number of mid-range bags is approximately how much percent of that of heavy range bags?
A. 135%
B. 138%
C. 131%
D. 133%
E. 140%
Sol:
For company P,
Let the total number of bags manufactured =
100a
Number of office bags manufactured = 72% of
100a = 72a
Number of sports bags manufactured = 100a –
72a = 28a
Number of mid-range office bags = 50% of 72a =
36a
Number of heavy range office bags = 72a – 36a
= 36a
Number of mid-range sports bags = 75% of 28a
= 21a
Number of heavy range sports bags = 28a – 21a
= 7a
Required % = [(36a + 21a) / (36a + 7a)] x 100 =
132.5%
Hence, answer is option D.
3) If the value of E is (600/11) %, then, find the difference between the total number of mid-range bags manufactured by company R and the number of mid-range office bags manufactured by company T.
A. 3744
B. 3474
C. 3764
D. 3677
E. None of these
Sol:
For company R,
Let total number of bags manufactured by the
company = 100a
Number of heavy range office bags
manufactured by company = (45% of 100a –
4320) = (45a – 4320)
Number of heavy range sports bags
manufactured by company = (500/11) % of 55a
= 25a
Now, (45a – 4320) + 25a = 5760
So, value of a = 10080/70 = 144
So, number of mid-range bags manufactured by
company R = 4320 + (600/11) % of 55a = 4320
+ 30 x 144 = 8640
Number of mid-range office bags manufactured
by company T = 4896
Required difference = 8640 – 4896 = 3744
Hence, the answer is option A
4) For company T, if the number of heavy range bags sold by the company is 250% of mid-range sports bags and the number of heavy range unsold bags is 8736 less than that of sold bags. Find the total number of bags manufactured by the company.
A. 28800
B. 19200
C. 25600
D. 12800
E. None of these
Sol:
For company T,
Let number of bags manufactured = 1600a
Number of office bags manufactured = 1088a
Number of sports bags manufactured = 1600a –
1088a = 512a
Number of mid-range office bags manufactured
= 4896
Number of heavy range office bags
manufactured = 1088a – 4896
Number of mid-range sports bags manufactured
= 62.5% of 512a = 320a
Number of heavy range sports bags
manufactured = 512a – 320a = 192a
Total number of heavy range bags sold = 320a x
250% = 800a
Number of heavy range bags unsold = total
heavy range bags – sold heavy range bags =
(1088a – 4896 + 192a) – 800a = 480a – 4896
Now, 800a – (480a – 4896) = 8736
320a = 3840
So, value of a = 12
So, total number of bags manufactured by
company = 12 x 1600 = 19200
Hence answer is option B
