Psoriasis: What is it?
- Psoriasis is a serious abnormal skin condition in which patients develop red and white crusty patches on their skin. These spots usually appear on the elbows, knees, scalp or lower back. These spots can sometimes be itchy or painful. At the same time, as the problem progresses, they may also feel burning sensations or swelling.

The first World Psoriasis Day was observed in 2004. In 2014, the member countries of the World Health Organization (WHO) declared October 29 as the official day to highlight psoriasis after realizing the value of raising awareness of this particular condition.
