Torneo del Centenario 2023: Indian women’s hockey team wins title: On July 30, the Indian women’s hockey team won the Torneo del Centrnario 2023 by defeating hosts Spain 3-0 in Terrassa, Barcelona.

Spanish Hockey International Tournament 2023

The Indian women’s hockey team won the three-nation Torneo del Centenario 2023 competition at Terrassa, Barcelona, defeating hosts Spain 3-0. Indian hockey team remained unbeaten in the 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation International Tournament 2023 with the help of scores gained by Vandana Katariya, Monika and Udita.

Match against England:

India started this tournament with a 1-1 draw against England and held Spain to a 2-2 stalemate in the next match. A Lalremsiami hat-trick helped India to a 3-0 win over England on 29th July and lifted the team to the top of the table.

First Quarter:

The Indian hockey team started the match with positive intend but could not get the breakthrough in the first quarter despite of getting many chances.

Second Quarter:

In the second quarter, Vandana Katariya’s field goal in the 22nd minute gave India a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

Third Quarter:

Both India and Spain were defensively sound in the third quarter. Monika, who was handed a green card at the end of the second quarter, came back to the field and doubled India’s lead in the 48th minute through a field goal.

 Fourth Quarter:

In the starting of the fourth quarter, India made a score of 2-0. Spain committed number of attempts to made goals. However, Indian defender Udita made it 3-0 with two minutes to go to the final hooter and put the game to the end.

Asian Games 2023

After winning the title of Torneo del Centenario 2023 tournament, The Indian hockey team will compete at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China, from September 23rd to October 8th.
