Tripura to host 10th National Science Film Festival of India in 2020
10th National Science Film Festival of India would be held here in January- February to popularize science films and literature, where at least ten countries would participate, a minister said on Thursday.
State Science and Technology minister, Sudip Roy Burman said, Vigyan Prasar of the central government, state government and Tripura Central University have come together to organize the festival.
Roy Burman said, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had requested the former Union Science and Technology minister Harsh Vardhan to hold the festival in Tripura.
Director of Vigyan Prasar, Nakul Parasar said, National Science Film Festival of India (NSFFI) is an event of the Vigyan Prasar to celebrate science outrich through cinema.
Sudip Roy Barman said, “NSFFI aims to foster, strengthen and create scientific tenper through films that popularise science, technology , innovation energy, environment medicine and emerging sciences, agriculture and traditional knowledge. And moreover, it also promotes appreciation of science films in a simple way that would bring science closer to common people through simple ways of explanation”, he said.
The NSFFI started with its debut show in Chennai eight years back in 2011. It has covered almost all regions of the country since then including Bhubaneshwar, Kolkata, Bangalore, Lucknow, Mumbai, Guwahati and Mohali. The show would be held for the second time in NE India at Agartala city for five days in January and February, 2020. The maximum length of the films would be 40 minutes and the entry of students and professional film makers would be welcome.
