Tripura’s Asmita Dey wins gold at Junior Asian Judo Championships 2023: Asmita Dey of Tripura has won a gold medal at the Junior Asia Cup Judo Championship in Macau, China. In addition to her gold medal at the Junior Asian Judo Championships 2023 in Macau, China, she had secured a silver medal at the Asian Open 2023 held in Kuwait City in April of this year and a bronze medal at the Asian Junior Championships in 2022.
Asmita Dey competed in the 48 kg category at the Junior Asian Judo Championships 2023, competing against opponents from 27 different countries, including Korea, Bhutan, Iraq, America, and many more.
Asmita’s Journey to Gold
Asmita showed remarkable skill right from the start, excelling in Group D during the preliminary round and achieving a decisive win against Hong Kong’s Suet Yiu Tang. In the semi-final, the 20-year-old Indian judoka triumphed over Australia‘s Ashlyn Do and finally secured the gold medal by defeating Australia’s Anneliese Fielder in the final.
