Vice-Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh is new Vice-Chief of Navy: Vice-Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh was appointed Vice-Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) on April 2nd, as part of a series of high-level changes in the Indian Navy. Vice Admiral Singh graduated from the National Defence Academy in Pune in 1986 and joined the executive branch of the Indian Navy. Over his 37-year career, he has served on various types of ships and held many leadership roles, including Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (CSNCO), Flag Officer Commanding of the Western Fleet, Commandant Naval War College, and Controller Personnel Services. Prior to becoming VCNS, he served as Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations). He received the Nao Sena Medal in 2009 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2020 in recognition of his distinguished service.

As part of the recent high-level changes in the Indian Navy, Vice-Admiral Suraj Berry has assumed the position of Chief of Personnel (COP), while Vice-Admiral Atul Anand has taken over as Director-General Naval Operations (DGNO). Vice-Admiral Anand joined the Navy’s Executive Branch in 1988 and served as the Flag Officer Commanding of the Maharashtra and Karnataka Naval Areas before being promoted to three stars and taking on the role of DGNO.
