Women’s rights activist and author Kamla Bhasin Died at 75
Women’s rights activist Kamla Bhasin, known for being a part of the ‘One Billion Rising’ campaign in South Asia among other important movements, died today. She was 75. she was suffering from cancer. A noted feminist and author, she had been working on issues related to gender, development, peace, and human rights for over three decades in India and other South Asian countries.
She has penned several books, especially on gender theory and feminism. Many books have been translated into more than 30 languages.
She also served on developmental issues in the 1970s.
