World Bee day 2020
World Bee day is observed on 20 May every year to strengthen measures to protect bees and other pollinators. The day aims to spread awareness about the significance of pollinators like bees, butterflies, bats, and sparrows.
The theme for 2020 World Bee Day is “Save the Bees”.
The theme aims to stress the protection of bees and other pollinators. It also aims at protecting the natural habitat of pollinators.
The United Nations initiated the observation of World Bee day. The days also commemorate the birth anniversary of the pioneer of beekeeping Anton Jansa who was born in 1734 in Slovenia.
The UN Member States approved the proposal of World Bee Day in December 2017.
The first World Bee Day was celebrated on 20 May 2018. The purpose of the Bee Day is to acknowledge the role of bees in the ecosystem. The day aims to highlight the variety of threats and development.
