World Food Prize Foundation announced the name of World Food Prize laureate 2022, Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig of the United States. The World Food Prize is an award that is presented for recognizing the achievements of individuals from across the world who have helped in advancing the development of humans by improving the quantity, quality, or availability of food across the world.
Rosenzweig was selected for the award for her research to understand the relationship between climate and food systems and forecast how both will change in the future. In 2021 Leading nutrition expert Dr. Shakuntala Haraksingh Thilsted won the prize and in 2020 Indian-American soil scientist – Dr. Rattan Lal won the prize.
The World Food Prize was established in the year 1986 by Norman Borlaug with the support of general foods.

- Cynthia Rosenzweig received the 2022 World Food Prize from the World Food Prize Foundation on 5th May 2022.
- Rosenzweig is NASA’s head of the Climate Impacts Group and a senior research scientist at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS).
- In addition to the cash award of USD 2,50,000, the laureate receives a sculpture designed by the noted artist and designer, Saul Bass.
