Former India cricket captain and ex-BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly has been appointed as Tripura Tourism's brand ambassador. After meeting with Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury at his apartment in Kolkata, Ganguly indicated his willingness to serve as the state's brand ambassador for tourism. Ganguly’s selection as the brand ambassador for Tripura Tourism is expected to draw significant attention to the state’s unexplored tourist destinations.

The Tripura government is confident that Ganguly will be a successful brand ambassador for the state. They believe that his popularity and charisma will help to attract more visitors to Tripura and boost the tourism industry. The declaration came after Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury met with Ganguly and other state officials at his residence in Kolkata to discuss the plan. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, who had earlier spoken to the former ace cricketer, expressed his confidence that Ganguly’s involvement will greatly benefit the tourism sector.

Tripura is a state in Northeast India. It is bordered by Assam and Mizoram to the east and by Bangladesh to the north, south and west. Tripura is divided into 8 districts and 23 sub-divisions, where Agartala is the capital and the largest city in the state. Tripura has 19 different tribal communities with a majority Bengali population. Bengali, English and Kokborok are the state’s official languages.
It became a full-fledged state of India in 1972. Tripura is geographically isolated in India, with only National Highway 8 connecting it to the rest of the country. Hathai Kotor, Atharamura, Longtharai, Shakhan, and Jampui Hills are five mountain ranges that span north to south, with valleys in between; Agartala, the capital, is located on a plain to the west. The state has a tropical savanna climate, and receives seasonal heavy rains from the south west monsoon.
