India recently contributed USD 300,000 to the United Nations agency for gender equality and women empowerment, a contribution lauded by the UN entity.

It is established in 2010 by the United Nations General Assembly to accelerate the progress on meeting women’s needs worldwide
The Aim of the UN Women is to support inter-governmental bodies, such as the Commission on the Status of Women in their formulation of policies, global standards, and norms.
The objective of the UN Women is to help the Member States to implement these standards, standing ready to provide suitable technical and financial support to those countries that request it, and to forge effective partnerships with civil society. It also hold the UN system accountable for its own commitments on gender equality. It includes regular monitoring of system-wide progress.
