India partnered with ‘United Nations Office for Project Services'(UNOPS)

United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) entered into a partnership with the Government of Denmark to support the Union Government’s flagship programme, Jal Jeevan Mission in Uttar Pradesh on World Water day.

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an implementing body for the United Nations, dedicated to implementing projects at the service of the United Nations and other international development partners. The organization's global headquarters is located on the UN City campus in Copenhagen, Denmark.

What is the Objective of UNOPS?

The objective of UNOPS is to ensure that the work of the United Nations is implemented in an effective and professional manner. This means that it focus on three main areas; project implementation, financial management and procurement.

What are the Significance of UNOPS?

• The mission of UNOPS is to support peace, development and human rights for people around the world through our expertise in implementing projects.
• On a daily basis it is working on issues from governance, health services and infrastructure developments to humanitarian assistance and refugee relief.
• UNOPS works to advance the Sustainable Development Goals and in doing so, seeks to reduce inequality, sustain peace and security, and improve the quality of life for people everywhere.

The Objective of UNSDG’s mission is to enable individual and collective efficacy of UN organizations, funds and programmes in development.

What are the Significance of UNSDG?

• Its strategic priorities are to respond to the Triennial comprehensive policy review (TCPR) which became in 2008 the Quadrennial comprehensive policy review (QCPR) and global development priorities, as well as to ensure the UN development system becomes more internally focused and coherent.
• The UNSDG strategic priorities give direction to UNSDG members' efforts at the global, regional and country level to facilitate a step change in the quality and impact of UN support at the country level.
• The UNSDG was one of the main UN actors involved in the development of the Post-2015 Development Agenda which lead to the creation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
