International Volunteer Day (IVD) is observed every year on 5 December.
It is an international observance mandated by the UN General Assembly in 1985.
The theme for IVD 2018 is 'Volunteers build Resilient Communities'.
IVD is a chance for individual volunteers, communities and organisations to promote
their contributions to development at the local, national and international levels.
